MGM Resorts International, one of the largest in the hospitality and entertainment industry, announced a cyber incident that undermined several key systems. Failures were noted in the main site, online reservation system and casino services. ATMs, slot machines and credit card payment terminals were attacked.

At social network X (formerly known as Twitter), representatives said measures have already been taken to protect data and internal systems. The investigation began immediately after the discovery of suspicious activities.

The IT services of the large resort hotels are still not working. Employees carry out all operations manually, as ATMs and payment terminals are also disabled. On the main pages, it is reported that customers can reserve rooms by phone. MGM Rewards loyalty program users are encouraged to contact customer service.

All MGM Resorts sites using the same mgmresorts.com domain name are unavailable for several hours.

Guests at some hotels report that they cannot physically enter their rooms: the electronic keys do not work. On the slot machine screens, the same message is displayed: “temporarily unavailable.”

The details of the incident have not yet been revealed, the motives of the attackers are also unknown. Note that this is the second confirmed cyber incident at the company since 2020. Then, more than 10 million customer records, including names, dates of birth, email addresses and phone numbers, were publicly available on a forum of hackers.
