Bitwarden has announced the launch of a new product: Secrets Manager, which is an end-to-end encrypted secret manager for IT professionals, development teams, and the DevOps industry.

The main purpose of Secrets Manager is to provide a secure alternative to storing and transferring secrets, such as API keys, certificates for user authentication, database passwords, SSL and TLS certificates, private encryption keys, SSH keys, and others. . A common problem in the industry is the leakage of these secrets as a result of cyberattacks or due to bad security practices during the development process.

The Secrets Manager service offers a solution to the problem of confidential information leakage by providing an easy and secure way to obtain, transmit and use secrets within the development team. Also, the tool supports access permissions for individual users or groups. With its open source code, Secrets Manager provides a high degree of transparency and customization.

The tool is available in three subscription options. The free version supports storage of an unlimited number of secrets, support for two users, three projects, and three service accounts.

The “Teams” and “Enterprise” options cost $6 and $12 per month, respectively, and offer additional features like support for FIDO2 authentication, automatic account creation, SSO integration, and advanced administrative capabilities.

Secrets Manager is currently integrated with GitHub Actions, but future versions are expected to support Kubernetes, Terraform, and Ansible. In addition, it is planned to expand the support for programming languages and improve the access control system.
